Weak approximation on the norm one torus
(2024)Compositio MathematicaFor any abelian group A, we prove an asymptotic formula for the number of A-extensions K/Q of bounded discriminant such that the associated norm one torus R-K/Q(1 ) G(m) satisfies weak approximation. We are also able to produce new results on the Hasse norm principle and to provide new explicit values for the leading constant in some instances of Malle's conjecture.Journal Article -
Mechanisms that link climate, soil properties and microbes to macroscale soil organic carbon dynamics: Insights from a geoclimatic gradient
(2024)Adequate representation of the soil organic carbon (SOC) cycle at the macroscale (km to global) is important in order to understand and predict the implications of SOC dynamics for the climate and our planet. Such adequate representation is challenging, because mechanistic knowledge about soils is derived from the much smaller mesoscale (mm to m). However, the dominant mechanisms and controls of the SOC cycle vary across scales. Therefore, ...Doctoral Thesis -
High-Glide Refrigerant Blends in High-Temperature Heat Pumps: Part 1 – Coefficient of Performance
(2024)International Journal of RefrigerationClimate change necessitates the reduction of primary energy consumption. Industrial heat pumps can contribute by replacing oil and gas fired boilers in various applications. To cater the application, heat pumps must often impose temperature differences of 25 K or more to the heat source and heat sink, causing great irreversibility if evaporation and condensation occur at constant temperatures. Many theoretical studies suggest that high-glide ...Journal Article -
High-Glide Refrigerant Blends in High-Temperature Heat Pumps: Part 2 – Inline Composition Determination for Binary Mixtures{fr}Mélanges de fluides frigorigènes à haut pouvoir glissant dans les pompes à chaleur à haute température: Partie 2 - Détermination en ligne de la composition des mélanges binaires
(2024)International Journal of RefrigerationRefrigerant mixtures are frequently used in air-conditioners and heat pumps. However, mixtures with high glides of 30 K and more during evaporation are rare, partially because there is an increased concern about composition shifts within the system. An easy and reliable inline composition measurement could alleviate these concerns and simplify the handling of systems with high-glide mixtures. This study investigates six composition ...Journal Article
