  1. The effect of heat stress on risk and efficiency in dairy farming

    Parikoglou, Iordanis; Finger, Robert (2025)
    European Review of Agricultural Economics
Our study employs a stochastic frontier model that explains short- and long-run production risk and efficiency with respect to heat stress conditions and other farm specific characteristics. We use an unbalanced dataset of specialist Swiss dairy farmers between 2003 and 2014. We find that farms are not able to reduce production risk towards heat stress in the short run. We also find that farm-specific characteristics explain risk and ...

  2. An Approach for RGB-Guided Dense 3D Displacement Estimation in TLS-Based Geomonitoring

Wang, Zhaoyi; Butt, Jemil Avers; Huang, Shengyu; et al. (2025)
ISPRS Annals of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences
Estimating 3D deformation with high spatial resolution from TLS point clouds is beneficial for geomonitoring. Existing methods for this task primarily rely on geometric data. They do not use radiometric information although it is often available as well. This leaves potential for improvement. To address this, we propose an approach that utilizes RGB images—captured by built-in cameras of TLS scanners and co-registered with TLS point ...

  3. Spatio-temporal evolution of organo-mineral associations during fluvial transport across the land-ocean aquatic continuum

    Gallarotti, Nora (2025)
Rivers are important transport agents, transferring organic carbon (OC) from terrestrial carbon pools to ocean sediments, which act as an important OC sink. Research has shown that OC-mineral associations exert a key influence on OC dynamics by influencing the stability and thus the timescales of carbon storage and transport within drainage basins. Although evidence is mounting that these interactions develop in soils, observations of how ...

  4. The Price of Constraints in Linear Tracking Model Predictive Control

    Vlachos, Anastasios (2025)
Trajectory tracking constitutes a core challenge in control systems, applicable across various domains like robotics and autonomous vehicles. While unconstrained tracking is well-understood and solvable using classical methods, introducing constraints fundamentally alters the landscape of achievable performance. Constrained tracking problems are prevalent in real-world applications, where safety and operational limits must be respected. ...
